March 30 was a very special day at Hammer Coffee Roasting, as we received our final approval to operate in our new Function Junction coffee roastery. It was high-fives all round as Mitch Hunter from the Whistler Fire Department left our new facility with a cheery “good luck with the new space guys”. The final inspection in a long list of inspections, begins a new chapter for Hammer Coffee Roasting in a story that started with a chance meeting in a small Whistler cafe in October 1999.
We would like to thank the following people for graciously sharing their expertise and patiently answering our never ending list of annoying questions. They say it takes a village and they’re right: Celine Hsin (VCH), Evangeline Cannon (RMOW), Rusty & Paul (RS Heating) , Nelson Wall (RMOW), Mitch Hunter (WFD), Kevin Winter (Coast Mountain Brewing), Charlie Moran (Atwell Plumbing), Marc Freno (WB), Alon and Mark Greenberg, Stuart Cook, Sholto Shaw (R&C) and Sharryn Gonzalez.
Also, we would like to thank our friends and family and customers who are now friends but not quite family, who have understandably grown tired hearing about our dreams of coffee and community, but never failed to offer support, a cold beer or a warm meal.
Onwards! - Mat & Chrissy
