On Thursday evening, close to one hundred intrepid local riders huffed, puffed, slipped and giggled their way around a quality combination of Lost Lake single-track and flat-out pea gravel, before heading to Blacks Pub to celebrate the first in-person WORCA Toonie in two long years.
I was thrilled to see so many first-time Toonie riders enjoying a well-deserved beer and pizza surrounded by dozens of their new best friends at the apres. A few lucky participants walked away with Hammer Coffee prizes. I was left thinking that I should have shown up with a lot more prizes to give away.
I’ll do better next time, promise.
A great deal of thanks needs to go out to the Sundial Hotel for course setup and marshalling, the wonderful staff at Blacks Pub and of course Gibbons for hosting our rowdy but appreciative group. Also to AWARE and WCSS for keeping us informed about Mental Health Awareness Month and providing prizes.
Next week we’ll be supporting the virtual Toonie with coffee prizes. Don’t forget to register and obtain the Trailforks badge to be entered to win your weekly coffee.
See you on the trails!
